The Skywatcher 150P has arrived

by Mike on September 3, 2010

My new (well, second-hand) Skywatcher 150P Newtonian telescope has arrived! I’ve collimated it using a special eyepiece laser tool and took it out last night to test it on a few stars. Amazingly I saw some :)

The field of view is much, much better and you can see more in it. However there’s a slight coma/lensing effect on bright objects (e.g. Jupiter) and the Newtonian doesn’t resolve as much detail as even a smaller Makuskov. I’ll explain why another time, but for now, here are the pictures of me collimating the telescope :)
